    How it works

    How a hospital transfer works

    1. 1

      Share the transfer details

Patient condition, sending hospital and ward, receiving facility and any physician requirements.

    2. 2

      We coordinate both ends

Bed confirmation, discharge timing and clinical handover arranged with both hospitals.

    3. 3

      Bedside collection

The crew receives the handover at the ward and moves the patient with all records and medication.

    4. 4

      Documented arrival

Direct handover to the receiving team, with the journey and vitals documented throughout.

    Who it's for

When do patients move between hospitals?

Families usually arrange these transfers at short notice, under pressure, and while dealing with two sets of hospital administration. Our dispatch team takes that load: we speak to the case managers, confirm the receiving bed, time the ambulance to the discharge, and keep you informed at every step.

    • Referral to a specialist unit — cardiac, neuro, oncology, burns
    • Moving into the patient's insurance network
    • Step-down to a rehabilitation or long-term care facility
    • Clinic-to-hospital escalation after a diagnosis
    • Moving closer to family in another emirate
    • Capacity or second-opinion transfers between facilities
    On board

Clinical care that matches the patient

Every transfer carries a licensed paramedic as a minimum, with oxygen, suction, monitoring and emergency medication on board. Higher-acuity patients travel with registered nurses; ventilated and critical patients move in a dedicated ICU ambulance with an intensive-care nurse and, where required, a physician. The level of care is agreed with the referring doctor before departure so there is no gap in treatment between the two hospitals.

    UAE-wide coverage

    Available in every emirate

We transfer patients between facilities within the same city and across the country — Dubai to Abu Dhabi, Sharjah to Dubai, Al Ain to Abu Dhabi, the Northern Emirates to anywhere — with one team managing the whole journey.

EMRS operates across the entire United Arab Emirates — Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Ajman, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah and Umm Al Quwain — including Al Ain and every city, suburb and free zone in between. One dispatch number covers the whole country, 24 hours a day.
